Roof Repairs in Morecambe
A leaking roof, slipped slate or damaged ridge needs looking at before water gets further into your home. Morecambe Roof Repairs will find where the water is getting in and explain the repair in plain English.
We carry out roof repairs across Morecambe, Lancaster, Heysham and nearby areas. Call us on 01524123456 to talk about a leak, roof damage or anything else you can see.

Signs your roof may need repair
Water marks on ceilings, drips in the loft, loose tiles or slates, and debris on the ground can all point to a problem with your roof. It could be around a chimney, valley, ridge, roof edge or flashing, rather than in the middle of the roof.
You cannot always see where water is getting in from the ground. If water is coming into the house, the damp patch indoors may not show where it started. Water can run along timbers or beneath the roof before it appears inside.
A new or recurring leak after rainfall
Cracked, slipped, loose or missing tiles and slates
Damaged or loose ridge tiles
Split, lifted or worn flashing
Visible damage around valleys, roof edges or chimney details
Damp patches, staining or drips in the loft or on ceilings
Finding the source of a roof leak
A lasting repair starts by finding where water is getting through. We check the tiles or slates, ridges, valleys, flashing and nearby details. We also look at the underlay, battens and roof edge if needed.
The place you see the leak is not always where it began. A leak near a chimney could come from damaged flashing or the chimney itself. Water showing at the eaves could be linked to broken tiles, a damaged roof edge or overflowing gutters. We find the cause, so the repair deals with the problem rather than just the stain indoors.

Roof repair options for the problem
Some jobs are as simple as replacing a few damaged tiles or slates. Others may need new flashing, work to secure ridge tiles, valley repairs or repairs to worn parts at the roof edge. The right job depends on how much damage there is, how we can reach it and the condition of the surrounding roof.
If the problem is around one part of the building, we can advise on the right repair. Chimney repairs cover damaged chimney stacks and the areas around them. Leadwork repairs cover lead flashing and other lead details. Flat roof repairs deal with problems on flat roofs. Where damage is widespread and repeat repairs no longer make sense, we can also discuss roof replacement.

Repair or roof replacement?
Damage in one part of the roof does not automatically mean the whole roof needs replacing. A repair can be a practical option if the rest of the roof is still in decent condition and the leak or visible damage can be properly repaired.
A replacement may be a better option where wear is widespread, damage is appearing in several places, or patch repairs are unlikely to last. We will explain what we find so you can compare your options.

What affects the cost of roof repairs?
The cost depends on the problem and how safely we can reach it. Replacing a few easy-to-reach tiles is very different from repairing a valley, ridge, chimney detail or a larger damaged part of the roof.
What sits beneath the visible tiles or slates can also affect the work. When we take a look at damaged tiles or slates, there may also be problems with battens, underlay, flashing or nearby parts of the roof. A clear quote shows what is included before the work is booked in.
The type, position and extent of the damage
Whether tiles, slates, flashing, ridges or valleys need attention
The condition of nearby roof details and any damage underneath
Access needed to inspect and carry out the repair
Whether the repair is limited to one area or forms part of wider wear
What a clear roof repair quote should cover
Before agreeing to repairs, you should be able to see what problem has been found and what work is planned. That makes it easier to compare the options and ask questions about your roof.
Our quote is based on the area we inspect and the repair needed. If a chimney, flat roof or lead detail appears to be causing the problem, we will say so rather than list it as a general roof repair.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do if water is coming through my roof?
Move belongings away from the area if you can do so safely, and put a container under any drips if needed. Do not go onto the roof, especially in wet or windy weather. Contact us with details of where the water is appearing and any visible damage you have noticed.
Can a few broken or slipped tiles cause a leak?
Yes. Tiles and slates work together to keep the weather out, so a damaged, slipped or missing piece can let water reach the layers below. We may also need to check nearby tiles, battens, underlay and flashing to find the full cause.
How do you tell whether the leak is coming from the chimney?
A leak near a chimney can come from damaged flashing, leadwork, mortar or the chimney stack itself. We need to inspect the chimney details and the roof beside it to find where water is getting in. We can then advise whether chimney repairs or leadwork repairs are needed.
Will a roof repair always be enough?
Not always. A repair may suit a problem that is contained and where the rest of the roof is still in reasonable condition. If damage or wear is widespread across the roof, replacement may be the more realistic option.
Do you cover roof repairs outside the local area?
Yes. We cover Lancaster, Heysham, Carnforth, Bentham, Hornby and Galgate, as well as the surrounding area. Get in touch with your location and a short description of the roof problem, and we can discuss the job.
